Rain Didn’t Dampen Glen Mar Golf Classic Benefit for Grassroots

8th Annual Tournament Attracts 100 for Church Fundraiser to Help People in Crisis

Despite rain on its rescheduled tournament outing, the 8th Annual Glen Mar Golf Classic, fielded over 100 golfers who often relied on umbrellas for coverage but kept up their good spirits during the benefit for Grassroots, Howard County 24-7 crisis intervention center and shelter for the homeless.

Organized and hosted by a team of volunteers from Glen Mar United Methodist Church, the event raised $23,000, bringing to $40,000 the results of the tourney combined with the proceeds from the Soup’r Sundae Silent Auction, also organized by Glen Mar United Methodist Church for Grassroots.

The Glen Mar Golf Classic Team included Libby Boswell, who is also a member of the Grassroots Board of Directors, Phil Enstice, John Hampshire, Barbara Julian, Don Lee and Sue Shipp.

The Silent Auction Team included Libby Boswell, Bonnie Dust, John Hampshire, Ellen Hughes, Sandy Kappert, Susan Lutz, Debbie Meyer, Nancy Pirritano, Ellen Prucha, Ellen Sutton, Debbie Wood and Alidon Zuzak.
