Upcoming Online Training and Support Sessions

QPR Training • Teen Support after Suicide Loss • Safe Space Training

Below are a number of upcoming free online training and support sessions available through Grassroots.

QPR Training

QPR stands for Question, Persuade and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade and refer someone to help.

  • Nov. 17 • 7-8:30 p.m.  This session is sponsored by the Mount Hebron PTSA and is geared toward youth suicide prevention and intended for youth ages 13 & up and their families.
  • Nov. 18 • 7:30-9:00 p.m. This session is intended for adult learners who want information about adult suicide prevention.
  • Nov. 30 • 6:30-8:00 PM  This session is intended for youth ages 13 & up and their families.

Teen Support After Suicide Loss

Designed for youth aged 13-17 who’ve been affected by suicide loss and need additional support and a safe space to process, this closed, non-clinical-based support group will meet online Tuesdays in December, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The group is intended for youth who have been impacted by a suicide loss whether a family member, friends or someone they were exposed to within the community. Registration and family intake must be completed to attend the group. Click here to learn more and to register for the series.

Safe Space

Grassroots will offer a virtual Safe Space training session on Wednesday, December 9, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Safe Space was designed by Grassroots as a suicide prevention and intervention model that focuses on the LGBTQ+ population and their increased risk for suicide. The training program combines cultural competence with prevention and intervention strategies to reduce stigma, reduce suicidality, and ultimately save lives.
